First of all, I have no comments from either of my posts from yesterday. If no one has commented, that would explain it, but if people have then they didn't come through for some reason. If you don't see your comment appear within 24 hours, I probably didn't get it so please send it again!
Today has been quite an interesting day. We got word in the morning that we could move to our new apartment right away! We liked the other one, but the trouble we were having with the internet card was just not good. That is how we communicate with our family and such and we couldn't even voice Skype without it cutting off every couple of minutes. It was very annoying and and didn't work well at all.
We started packing up and then got a call from Lana. She said that Ira was saying she didn't want to go again and we needed to get over to the orphanage right away. We figured we could get our stuff over to the new place and still get over to the orphanage with some time before we needed to head back. By the time we got to the new apartment though, we'd heard that director wanted us to not come today so that Ira could think about it and then she would keep her out of school tomorrow for us to come visit.
It was nice not to have to drive over there, but we missed seeing Ira. Lana and the director talked to her and again, it was just that she didn't want to leave the people she loves here. Yes she likes us though. The director was trying to have her make a wise decision and on that would be best for her. In the end, she said yes she will go with us again, but we are still on pins and needles, so to speak. The director wants her to sleep on it and tomorrow we will come to visit early in the morning, at which time she will write her letter and we can get going on the paperwork.
Holy cow. Talk about a rollercoaster of a day! Somehow I don't think the ride is over. Not until we are done with the court at least. Maybe not even then. Who knows? We just pray, as we've been doing for a couple of months now, that if it is the Lord's will that she be a part of our family that she will have the courage to go all the way through with this.
It sounds like you are on a real roller coaster ride. I am praying for you and hope everything works out for you. I am sure it is very hard for Ira to make the change. Lore and JoAnn had Bella Milan this morning. She is 7 lbs and weighs 19 pounds. Looking forward to your safe return. Your pictures are fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteYou will for sure get the child that belongs in your family. I think the Lord has a way of making things happen to bring this about Good luck
ReplyDeleteWow, Hang in there. That has to be so hard. I'll keep praying for you.
ReplyDeleteWow! This gets more adventurous every day!! An adventure is one thing, an increasing emotional adventure is another. What a big decision for Ira to make with such a limited perspective. We all have such a better vantage point to see the consequences or blessings that will come depending on her choice. The other children in the orphanage are her current family. What she doesn't see is that this is not a lasting family. In six years, they will have all mostly ventured off on their own individual lonely paths. Oh, if she could only see down the path a little ways, this would be an easy decision for her to join your family.
ReplyDeleteWe will continue to pray for Ira to have the wisdom she needs to make this decision and for you to know what to say and do. May you be lead in the direction you need to go. May God bless you all!
Anne
Poor kid. I wish you could give her a glimpse of what her future can be like. Maybe you bring your laptop and find internet, then show her the blogs of some of the other families? Maybe some Facebook profiles of the kids that have been adopted? Maybr a call from one of the other kids that have been adopted? She's so young and the orphanage has been her only security for so long, no wonder it's so hard for her to understand all of this.
ReplyDeleteI know that this seems like such a bad thing but it says a lot about her attatchment to friends which is a good sign for her future attatchment with your family. My son struggled with these same issues, and I was sick about bringing a child home that didn't know if he wanted to when there were so many children desperate to come. He was so sad, and couldn't even look at me on the long plane ride home. I was devestated. In no time he attatched to our family and is grateful for us and the opportunity. We can't even imagine what it would be like to say goodbye to our loved ones forever, and they really have no concept of what it means to be part of a family
ReplyDeleteI'm holding my breath. I hope you're able to get some sleep and have some fun with Ira to help swing that pendulum back to the long term side! I'll be sitting right here. All my best!
ReplyDeleteOh we're praying for you and hope all goes well.
ReplyDeleteOh My, I hope the roller coaster ride ends soon and that you can feel secure in Ira's decision. Try to stay close to her and spend as much time with her as possible. It sounds like when you are with her she feels safer about her decision. She is being told all kinds of things about Americans by people she trusts. It takes a VERY brave girl to leave the security she knows for the unknown. Ask the director if you can take her out to a resturant or to do something fun away from the orphanage. Our prayers are with you.
ReplyDeleteCan you believe that it has been over a week already? Wow! I hope everything is going well for you today. I am waiting for your next post.
