Hogwarts "Spell"ing Bee

For our group school last Friday the kids had a spelling bee, Harry Potter style.  Complete with accent. :)  It was so cute.  They each had their own set of words since we have a variety of skill levels.  Their stuffed friend was the one that moved around the numbers as they got their words right.  The reward at the end was a chocolate frog.  They also had a "potions" class.

Getting instructions.

Little One as she spells one of her words

All done and has successfully collected Lambie

We had apple juice with dry ice for a drink. :)

The kids made their own pizzas for lunch.

This was a bar of ivory soap after it had been microwaved.  How cool is that?

The basilisk skin!

They got to mix corn starch and water to make this cool stuff.  It was liquid unless you pressed on it and then it was solid.  So fun!

PJ Pants

Little One has been REALLY wanting Grandma to teach her how to sew.  For our first project she and I decided to make matching PJ's.  I'm so proud of her.  Mom helped her, but she did almost everything herself.  We've got our pants done and are hoping to start on our shirts today. :)

Josh Groban

I haven't been to many concerts in my life.  I remember Air Supply in Rhode Island when I was maybe 4 or 5.  I went to Neil Diamond in Charlotte, NC when I was 9 or 10.  I've been to a couple of MoTab concerts and a Peter Breinholt concert here.  Therefore, I was super excited to go to Josh Groban (though I would have been excited no matter how many other's I'd seen.)

He did not disappoint.  It was even more than amazing.  The music was incredible.  He was funny and entertaining.  And RIGHT THERE.  I was in the 6th row on the floor but it was really more like about the 4th row.  I was on the inside isle so there was a straight shot to him.  Oh so cool.  I would do it again in a heartbeat.  (The pictures were taken with my new phone so not as good as if I'd taken my "real" camera.)  No date came out of it though.  He's only a year and a half younger than me.  Anyone know him and can hook us up? ;)

Waiting to begin.

The opening act was Judith Hill.

His band was amazing!  They were so fun to watch!

You can't tell here but his bow was shredded!

Green Belts!

Little One and I had our belt promotions last week.  So fun.  I love getting those new belts, even if they're hard to tie for awhile.  This is the last one she and I will match.  Next time she will get brown and then go through all the colors again.  Brown/yellow, brown/orange, etc.  I don't go through all the stripes so I get red and then brown.  After that there are three more levels until 1st degree black.  So fun!

My test was last Wednesday.  Little One got some fun shots.  My little budding photographer. :)

Tying on the new belt

Square horse while Te was being intentionally long-winded. ;)

She seems to like this kind of shot. LOL

Oh yeah!  Me and my teenage friends. LOL I swear there are other adults, but they are up in ban bu class already.

She insisted on taking this one.

Saturday was Little One's test.  I went early to help out so some of the pictures I took, some Ira did and some Mom did.

Pretty good horse stance. :)

Periwinkle got her green belt too, of course. :)
