King Tut

This exhibit was AMAZING.  I'm still bummed I didn't realize my ISO was so low.  I could have gotten much clearer pictures, but I'm glad I've got what I do.  I promise I did narrow down which pictures I put up.  I have a ton more.

Both girls were SO good during this.  I was super impressed with them.  It took us 2 1/2 hours to go through it and we couldn't leave and come back.  Not once did I hear a complaint about being bored.  NOT ONCE in 2 1/2 hours.  In the treasury (almost the end) I did hear about feet hurting but that was it.  They both loved it. :)

First, we saw an IMAX movie that was really cool.  Then we got some lunch in the cafeteria before our tickets into the actual exhibit started.

This was my first view of the Space Needle.

Before the IMAX started we wondered around a bit.  These were fun.

Look!  They had toilets back then!

This is a HUGE statue of King Tut

Another HUGE statue.  This one of Amenhotep IV, King Tut's father.  Also known as Akanonton.

King Tut's bed.  He actually slept with his feet toward what I would have thought was the head.

This was a little game.  LITTLE game.  It looked pretty cool though.

This boat was supposed to grow to life-size in the after-life.  Why it hasn't yet is probably still bothering Tut.

A Present

This morning I woke up to a present.  I got an email from our Polish friend Jan.  He had been in Ira's orphanage and showed them some of the pictures I put up on Facebook (also included here.)  He said that Miroslava and Kristina both sent their love as well as a picture!  So fun!  Poor Kristina is the only girl left at the orphanage.  Her brother is one of the 6 boys left there.  So sad.  All those other precious kids are gone.  I pray that they are with people that truly love them and are taking care of them.

There are people that I just make an instant connection with.  Jan and his wife Eva are some of them.  Masha is another.  Natasha, Oleg, Eliana.  Miroslava and Kristina are too.  It made our day that they thought of us (okay, I'm sure it was mostly Ira) enough to have Jan take a picture of them and send it to us.  What a tender mercy.  I want so bad to go hug them!  Hopefully it won't be too much longer before I can with Kristina.

The Pacific Ocean

Okay, these posts are going to be out of order chronologically but as much as that bugs me, I will be fine. :)  It's mostly the order in which I get the pictures off of my cameras and since I used both of them for different reasons, that's what it will be.  Just know that the next few posts will be about our trip to the northwest this last week. :)

First up is our trip to the ocean.  While it was a 2 1/2 hour drive the wrong direction we wanted the girls to be able to see the Pacific Ocean.  Little One has seen the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean but Ira has never been to either.  It was COLD and WINDY but we had a blast anyway.  Mom and Dad only lasted a few minutes before heading back to the car but I let the girls stay a little longer.  This first picture is right when we got to the water.  If you look closely, Little One got in the freezing water and was already headed back.  Ira, on the other hand, kept going. LOL

All three of us ended up wet but at least my wet was only a couple inches up my capris.  The girls were both pretty soaked.  We had tried to stay dry as you can see from how high up they hiked their capris but a couple of times a wave would be higher than the ones before it and we'd get wet.

I had to get one of our feet in the water.  I didn't notice it was out of focus until later.  Ah well.

She tried to make a butterfly but decided it was more like a bow. :)

She's almost to a full split!
Little One is actually only an inch or two away from a full straddle but she didn't want to get her pants all sandy.
